Touring 09-10 swing arm on older model
As anybody installed a 09-10 swing arm, and wheel on a on 07 or older model? I have a 2000 FLTR that I would like to upgrade to the wider wheel. Is it worth it or should I go aftermarket? I would like to do it on the cheap with used HD parts.

I have just successfully fitted a 2007 swingarm etc to my 1990 bike as an upgrade. There are a couple of articles out there about it, but I haven't come across anyone fitting the later ones. I also fitted a later narrow belt, so I have easily got in a 150 wide tyre and could probably get in a 160, but I can't see how a 180 would go in, because of the belt line. Be interesting to see if anyone has done it.
The 2009s and later have 25mm bearings and axle, so if they can be made to go in you will need the swingarm, wheel, brake and axle complete, as I did for my conversion (except 2007 had 1" bearings and axle!). I wrote about my experience here.

The fender on my 1990 Glide is plum centre in the bike which is just as well, as my 150 tyre only just fits up inside it! A wider fender was fitted at some time on later models. The 09s and on with the 180 rear tyre have an even wider fender. So you will need either one of those or a suitable custom to get a 180 in.
The shovel frame was replaced by the rubber mount before the evo was introduced. That has seen quite a few changes over the years. I suspect if we put a bare mid-80s frame alongside an 08 they will like quite different! The 90s are different in having a bolt-on rear sub-frame.
