Front brake - brake light

My son is re-building a 1998 FXDL (lowrider). The front brakes work but the brake light does not come on. Light will come on with the rear brake. Any in-sight/suggestions are welcome.

Some quick poking around - believe the front brake light switch is at the far end of the brake lever assembly, at the end opposite your hand.
