Default Aftermarket Frontend Fork Bushing 80-83 FXWG?

Ok here is a new one to me... I was helping a friend out rebuilding his forks. I figured a newer aftermarket front end would be simple as new seals new bushings new washers and new fluid. after removing the damper tube bolt the slider just pulled right off... no fork tube bushing... easy enough right. well the problem started trying to get the old slider bushing out. I dinged it up a little but finally got it out with a 2 foot long 1/4 inch rod. now that thats out I start looking for a bushing to replace it. In searching for it I find it is possibly a chrome specialties 1980-1983 FXWG front end OEM 45940-80.
V-twin has the bushings listed for $26.99 but remain out of stock. no one else stocks these bushings. I decided to call Kurt Heinrichs at Wyotech (the HD Guru there) He explained that they were the type that had to be reemed to proper size... not sure where to get this done I started to call around... one shop in superior wi quoted me 175.00 to do it... seemed outrages so I called another machine shop in Colorado... he quoted 80.00... I then called a shop in Daytona Beach... He thought that the oem 45940-84 would work with no machining. I also heard that the Original fork sliders for 80-83 fxwg were throw away and thats why the aftermarket have these bushings
special bushings.
Bottom line Its not a well known issue Id be greatfull for any help
