Default XL883L shocks

I have an 06 XL883L and with my gf and I on the bike we bottom out sometimes. I have the shocks adjusted to the 5th setting and fear that it is time for some new shocks. Was wondering if longer shocks would help this problem. The stockers are 11 1/2 inches and was thinking that 12 or 12 1/2 would make this better. Of course going with the HD shocks. Any ideas?

The Low runs one of Harleys shortest shocks. Reduced travel very often results in bottoming. Two up will certainly increase the odds of it happening.

If you are comfortable with the look, you can raise it a small amount (short forks will limit how far you can go before you negatively impact the handling of the bike).

Another option would be a heavy version of the stock length shock (higher spring rate).

And they didn't say it, but I will; If your current shocks are inadequate or worn out on an '06 model, why would you buy the same type again? I'd get Progressive shocks. They are simply better, and their fork springs are, too.
