Default Brake lever not returning fully

OK...just another in a long line of issues right now. Brake pressure seems good. Nice and tight, good grab, etc, BUT when released the brake lever itself doesn't return all the way out. It seems that the mechanism isn't exactly the best design, but I wonder if the MC is in need of a clean and/or rebuild?

any ideas?

have your calipers and master cylinder looked at. the mechanism itself works fine, but all brake systems of this type are prone to wear and sticking, be it Honda, or HD

bought a rebuild kit and there seems to be much better lever action and it returns completely. Haven't put fluid back in yet....

Get a rebuild kit to fix it. Same thing happened on my Softail, which caused the brake light to flicker as the lever was not depressing the switch correctly. While I am at it, when racing dirt bikes we used to drill a second hole through the banjo bolt, to prevent any air building up building up on top of the bolt between the fitting, if the hole was pointing down when tightened.
Has anyone tried putting a second or third hole in the side of the banjo bolt on their Harley?

My experience says to check the brake lines. Sometimes they swell from the inside. They will still allow the brakes to functions but not allow the fluid to return to the reservoir. To check this I have ran a wire coat hanger through the line to check for blockage.
Good Luck.

sorry...didn't see this got bumped

my problem was two fold:

one: the lever wasn't hitting the switch right
two: my master cylinder needed rebuilt

I addressed those two issues and my brakes, lever, and light all work perfectly
