Angry Need a screw repeller

A screw repeller would be best, but I guess the more practical thing is a plug kit and inflator. Does anyone know a good product that won't take up a lot of room in the saddle bag?

Here's the story: It was a nice day out today, better than any we had in Octber, so I decided to go for a ride. On my way home as it was getting dark after around 125 miles I pulled up to a stop sign and heard the rear tire whine. I jump off and see the back tire about 1/2 flat. 10 miles from town and there is no way I can ride that far. I saw a guy cooking at his grill just past the intersection so I limp in his stone drive to see if he has a compressor. He says yeah, but back at his barn at the next drive. Do you know how hard it is to turn around in a stone driveway with a flat tire?? Anyway, I get back to his barn and pump up my tire, only to hear is leaking like a untied baloon. We found the hole and he said we could put a screw in it to get me home. So, that's what we did and I made it home safely.

This is the 2nd flat I've had this year and I haven't even ridden 5000. I picked up a screw back in April at the start of the season. That was on a tire with only about 3500 miles on it since I replaced it for wear back in Aug 08. 4 rear tires and I just turned over 19000 miles today. I'll probably get both front & rear tires since I was going to get a front tire soon anyway.

Again, the screw repeller would be best, but I don't think anyone has invented one yet - have they???

Yeah you & me both. I wish I knew what roads to avoid, then I wouldn't need a screw repeller. Mostly state routes and county roads. I do my best to ride around anything in the road so I'm not sure where I picked it up. It sure is getting expensive though.

I road into work this morning, the tire was down to about 15 pounds so I aired it up an headed into work. The maintenance guy has a compressor and I parted by the loading dock so if I need air I can get it easy. There is an indy up the road about 3 miles so I'm hoping he can fit me in today for 2 new tires since the front is about due anyway.

If anyone does know of a good plug kit and inflator to carry I'd be interested in your opinions

Ride safe

Heres a good plug kit......www.safetyseal.com.

If you do a search there are other kits and compressors.

Got a 1/8 dia drill bit in a tire a while back.

I got one hanging by the sky hooks in my garage. Do you need them also?

Thanks 1fltri4me. I actually did a couple searches for plug kit and tire plu but didn't get any hits. I just hope once I get one I don't have to use it.

2003Springer, I've already got the sky hooks, thanks for the offer

Does anyone have experience with Genuine Innovations or Stop & Go Kits. They look to have everything one would need if their screw repeller didn't work and they are close to the same price.
