Default Shock Questions

How long do original equipment shocks last? I have an 06 Superglide so its a few years old, still feels fine but; would new shocks improve the ride and handling? Are after market shocks (Progressive in particular) much better than original equipment even if the oe stuff isn't worn out yet?

How long have you got? This is another topic like oil and tyres!

New rear shocks will improve your ride and handling, even on a new bike, if you choose wisely. Fitting progressive-rate springs to your forks will help as well, as will fitting improved dampers, such as Race-Tech emulators (there are others). To seriously improve your handling use better tyres (such as Avon Venoms) and a True-Track handling kit.

Unfortunately on HDF most posts on this subject don't get asked here, but under the Dyna forum. So get a long drink and go take a look over there, where you will find plenty! Take your time, but you have a list:

forks,
rear shocks,
tyres,
handling kit.
