Default Throttle/Switch Housing Connection

Couldn't find anything on this particular item in either the service manual or the archives here...

My throttle cable "tube" that connects to the switch housing is really loose. I'm talking about the bent metal piece that goes up into the housing. There's some sort of washer or something on the bottom of the housing where the "tube" connects to the housing that I can spin freely. The whole assembly is waaaay looser than the idle cable "tube". Is this normal?

From what I could see inside the housing [without completely disassembling] there's no nut or anything to tighten.

I wouldn't worry about it, under normal riding conditions, you will never notice it. No harm can come from it being loose. I don't know what holds them suckers in either, if it really bothers you, take the switch housing apart and see how it is fit. I'm thinking it is probably put through the hole and the end is smashed like a rivot or something. If that's the case, you could put a punch or a screwdriver to it and pound it until it is tighter, be carefull, the switch housing isn't very thick.

I wanted to bump this thread as I have the exact same question/concern after getting my bike back from new handlebars, cables and grips.

Are there clips that may be missing?

The throttle and idle cable tubes simply snap into the switch housing. Pull to get them out and push to snap them in. No nuts, no threads, just a snap fit.

loose and wiggly is normal. Just as long as they don't fall out...
