Ultima 58mm Inverted Forks
#16
I am really really considering one of these front ends for my 2009 Dyna FXDC. I have a 49MM frontend now and it is considerd a mid-glide. I want a wide glide with 5 degree rake. I was considerig the stock length or the -2.
I do not want a tall front end, I would prefer it the same height or lower then my current front end. I just do not know if -2 will be too low with the 5 degree rake. Any one know the answer to that?
I am running 11" shocks in the rear and a Lepera bare bones seat, so my bike is slammed to the ground n the back and lookinfg for same look in the front.

For the fork stops, Ultima offers an internal that I bought but spent too long trying to get my OEM fork cup out, after talking to the dealer and looking in my parts book, turns out i do not have a fork cup just bearings and race.
The Ultima external fork stops will not work on my model. Basically there is are 2 threaded holes on each side that you can install external stops in. My softail required a minimun of 3/4" diameter in order to hit the frame and not the tank.
Below is picture of my home-made stops. They consist of a 1.75" button head screw, 2 washers, and a chevy swing arm bushing per side. The fork lock bottom was cut and grinded (bottom stem). I now have about 1.5" when the wheel is turned full in either direction before hitting the tank. The button head screw was a must for this for clearance.

Ultima forks
YOU SEEM TO HAVE SOME EXPERIENCE WITH THESE FORKS. I PUT THEM ON AN AMERICAN IRONHORSE TEXAS CHOPPER 10 OR 12 OVER 5 DEGREES AND EXPERIENCING LEAKS RIGHT AWAY . RIGHT TUBE LOWER SEAL AND LEFT TUBE TOP SEAL. ANY INFO YOU CAN GIVE ME ON HOW YOU WOULD DEAL WITH IT WOULD BE COOL. I KNOW YOU SAID YOU SWITCHED BUT IT WOULD BE A SHAME TO GIVE UP ON SUCH A GOOD LOOKIN FORK.
