I was just wondering how much a tire would expand
after it's been inflated? My tire mesures 7.25 inches
off the rim. Once on the rim and inflated. How much
could I expect it to expand?
My rim is an 18 x 5.5 and my tire is an Avon 180/55ZR18 74W.

The od of the tire should be 25.79" assuming it's on a proper width rim.

Can it possibly go up to 7.5 inches?
Or will it stay at 7.25?

I don't know, I just did the math based on the tire size. 180 mm is slightly over 7", but not sure if that is the widest part of the tire.

 

According to Avon's website: Venom R AM42

Size: 180/55ZR18

Load IDX: 75

Speed Sym: W

Rec. Rim: MT5.50

Rim width Range: 5.5 Min. 6 Max

Overall Width: 187mm 7.4inches

Overall Dia: 655mm 25.8inches

Revs Per: 506KM 314Miels

So from this I would say on a 6 inch wheel your best would be 7.4 where a 5.5 wheel will be a little less due to the wheel width.
