Default New bike..new Tires

Just wondering..

I had been told numerous times about a skin..or coating on the new tires.
And that I needed to run them about 50 miles before the skin or coating came off.
Also that the tires would be extra slick till then.

Does the skin coating wear off even on wet pavement..or is it best to wear them on dry pavement?

Thanks for your replies in advance.

could be some manufacture film on the tires and the fact that the mold surplus rubber is still on the tires but I have never had an issue with the tires being "slick" However, the rubber will in fact roughen up when driving on dry pavement. Guess that would be assumed as making them a little more prone to gripping action. Just don't ever use tire dressing on the tread areas.
