Default '08 Master cylinder screwed up

While doing a swap on my Ultra to Brembo brakes I somehow screwed up the '08 m/c. I saw that the banjo bolt to hold the brake line needed to be shorter. Went to the dealer to get one but they would have to order and take 3-4 days. Parts guy suggested to just try grind off a little of the old banjo bolt. did this and in turn when I tried to torque the line, stripped the master cylinder. I read a thread this AM that said the '08 not only has a shorter bolt but is a different thread!!! Anyone got an idea on a good fix or am I going to have to look for a new M/C. Also learned the caliper mount bolt are metric!!!

If the threads on the master cylinder are cross-threaded stripped, you might be able to have them cleaned up so they'd work, but if it were mine, I wouldn't risk it. I'd spring for the master cylinder, not cheap but when it is the only real thing between stopping and not stopping, I'd buy a new one. Who was the douche at the parts counter who told you to grind down the bolt? I think I'd let him know what his recommendation was worth.

Yea I am leaning towards a new m/c. Did get the threads chased out and will see how it all plays out when the right banjo bolt gets here

If you are using the black master cylinder I pick mine upon Ebay for $45. An optionif your rethread doesn't work out or ask that helpfull parts guy to sale you a new one at his cost.

Yea,Iguess the "old" thread design was broke that's why they had to change it. As I learn more about these "american" motorcycles and their metric parts I am beginning to understand the pi**ed off attitude people have with the moco. Still love ridin' mine though.
