Default Belt chirp?

Hey guys, I'm getting a chirpinig noise from the rear sprocket area of my '94 WG when accelerating under a light load. Is this a comon sign of a worn belt? Or, is there something else I need to check out? Anyone had this issue before? Can I continue to ride until I need a rear tire?
Thanks,

It's probably loose. Check it and tighten. They say a loose one will break quicker than an over tightened one (generally speaking)

I rode it today and it wasnt too bad. I'll take a look at the belt adjustment tomorrow. Thanks. I'm wondering if anyone else hears it and just doesnt think anything about it. Maybe its normal??

If it is dirty (brake dust or road dust) it will chirp. First make sure it is adjusted properly and then clean it with a mild detergent and warm water. I find that the wife's toothbrush works great for this job.

Well, it was quiet on the ride home yesturday and I havent had time to check it out(or ride it today). So, the dirty comment got me thinking. I drove down my buddy's freshly graded driveway this weekend. It surely got a bit of dust on it. Thanks for the idea.. I plan to check the adjustment too, but I think the dirt might be the key here.. Thanks again guys, I'll let you know what I find..
