changing fork oil on 2000 fxdx

Default changing fork oil on 2000 fxdx

does anyone know the correct way to change fork oil on this bike? Is it easier than it looks? there are 3 different adjustments on each fork! any help will be greatly apreciated . thank you in advance. geno

1- remove the lower drain plug from the lower legs ( oil pan under ofcourse)
2-remove the upper fork leg nuts
3- mesure the proper amount of oil for each side
4-replace the drain screws
5-use a small clean funnel and pour it down the hole
6- replace the upper fork nuts tourqe to specs
Viola your done

as for adjustment i dont where you see that
i would go to the s/e heavy fork oil btw

Get a manual , the FXDX forks don't have a simple drain plug like the others . The manual shows complete disassembly for a fork oil change but I'm sure you could find a short cut somewhere. The manual also shows some special tools for disassembly.

the forks on the fxdx are alittle different than others. ah yes the special tools!

my bad i assumed they were like most others ive done baggers and squishy tail just not a dyna

SOME Dynas have drain screws (if you're lucky). Otherwise, clear your afternoon cause it's going to take a little while.
