Default Progressive 412, 418, or 440? Thoughts?

I have an 07 FXDC, most of my rides to work, are around town, or day trips.

I'm 160lbs and my wife rides with me sometimes (she's 100lbs).

I want a lowered rear end for the look but I want to keep as much handling and comfort as possible.

Thanks,
Rick

I put 12" 440's on my Wideglide and love 'em. Best mod I have done to date. Shorter shock but better ride. The 440's are their top of the line and the technology in the 440's is different from the others.

I know they are more $$ but I am glad I got them.

Hope this helps.

Mark

Neither are a great option. Money is your deciding factor. A works trax is a better option but still not good.

I'm in the process of having my Harley Dealer install some PROGRESSIVE 11" 430's...... check them out. They're the only shock that you dont need any tools to adjust, plus they look outstanding. Can be mounted up or down... depending on your preference with no difference. Also having Progressive Fork Lowering springs added. Dealer said it will lower my Low Rider by at least an inch to an inch and a half......but the great part about these shocks are the NO TOOL adjustment capability. They come in Chrome or Black. Take a look at them here http://www.thunderpress.net/MONTH_AR...tz/Partz.shtml, and you can go from there to Progressive's link.

412's will be fine for your weight, heavy duty (HD) not needed. The 418's and 440's are big money for a difference that you probably will not notice. Good idea to do the front as well, but you can get to that later. Eastern Performance sells for around $180 delivered, and they are easy enough to install.

The 412s are a huge step up from stock; don't know about the others. I, too, would recommend getting the Progressive fork springs as well, at $80 or so?....Another huge, huge step up from stock.

I'm 200lbs with an '07 FXD.

I'm thinking I'll get the stock length 412's. I run the OEM shocks on the middle setting, so should I get the standard 412's?

I ride with my girlfriend every weekend, but daily by myself..... suggestions on which shock? standard or heavy duty?

Thanks!

I just changed the rear shocks on my RK, removed 13" air shocks (7 yrs old)and replaced them with 12" 412s. I like the ride better already and will probably do the front end later.
