Lowering the front end. Have ?'s.....
I have a 2007 Street Glide and I am going to lower the front end.
I haven't decided which kit to use yet so if anyone has an opinion, please share...
The other question is how involved the process is. I am by no means a master mechanic, but I have mechanical experience cars and bikes ect... What kind of difficulties will I face and what hidden hurdles are there.
The last question is how much time will this take?
Any input would be awesome.
Thx

I lowered my 06 SG withProgressives front lowering kit.
It took me about 8 hours.
Basically you remove the fender, the front tire andthe brake and the fork legs.
Then the fork legs are taken apartto put in a lowering spring.
A work shop manual comes handy when taking the legs apart.
I also switcjed to the progressive spring, which made a much better ride.

I used a factory lowering kit on my FXST, different bike but same goal. I got it done in about 3 hours, and that includes sharing beer with the BOOK, service manual that is. Get you one BEFORE you get started because after you complet this job you'll want to do something else, and you'll have THE BOOK. These machines aren't that complex, but it's nice to have pictures to the puzzle, and some words too.
Also keep in mind, if you haven't already done so, the rear shocks are going to have to be squished. I don't think you'll want the front lower than the rear. Hay, just think, if you have the front end apart it could be a good time to get that there chrome front end kit. Good Luck!!!

RE: Lowering the front end. Have ?'s.....
Thanks guys! All the info will help.
Dan I have already put the lowering blocks on the rear and I enjoy the ride 10x better. Lower to the ground with more feel. Next to lower the front then drop a stab kit on to eliminate the wobble and understeer in turns.
Don't know what it is with these bikes? Cannot get the tracking +/- perfect on them if you modify the front rake to accomadate a 23" either. But that is a long way down the line for me.....

As long as you have the manual you will be fine. Take your time an re-read the manual as you go along. Some of the stumbling points for first timers will be removing the ignition (not certain if that is needed on an E-glide like it is on a R-glide andremoving and installing the fork tube caps. Call which ever lowering kit manufacture you decideto useand talk to the tech department in reference to setting the spring pre-load for your weight/riding style. The instructions with the lowering kit may have a chart enclosed with it, mine didn't.
