Default Tire time

Coming up on tire time and have a couple of questions. The stock '07 FXDC rear is a 160/70B17 73V, the front is a 100/90-19 57H. Questions are:

1) What the hell does the "B" represent?
2) Same for the 73V and 57H?
3) I've got the laced rims. Is it wise to do the tubes at the same time as the tires or does it not matter?

Now to the meat. I'm looking at the Metzeler 880 radial series tires. Does anyone have any experience with these. Everything I've read on them sounds good with great reviews, but those are magazine articles, I'm looking for real experience. I've used Metzeler in the past on my crotch rockets and they were awesome. What are folks running on here?

Last questions: Has anyone put a 180 on their FXDC? What if any mods did you have to make? How did it affect your handling?

The B probably stands for blackwall. V and H are speed ratings. Anytime you change the tire you need to change the tube and the rim strip. Don't know to much about the Metz tires. I have been sticking with the stock Dunlops. I have change two rear tires in the past 15000 miles due to nails. Getting ready to change the front now. If I can stay away from the nails I hope to get another 15000 miles out of these.

I ran a 180 Dunlop on my 07FXD. You will need to route or securethe wiring in the wheel well. I am currently running metz 190/50 on a my Dyna with a 07 Nightrain wheel.

B = Bias belt as opposed to R = Radial (I think)

73V = Max load 805lbs, Max speed 149mph

57H = Max load 507lbs, Max speed 130mph

The load rating is something to consider if you are changing to something elseas sport bike tyres might not be up to carrying the weight of a Harley.

Thanks to all that provided the answers. I assumed that they were load ratings of some sort, now I know for certain!

I recently heard that bikes were being caught in the rail grooves of the new South Lake Union Trolley (the ****) of Seattle, Washington. How does a HOG cope with this?

I agree with Dirty Dave Metzeler Me 880's on my Road King much better than stock Dunlops they don't grab the gruves in the road. I had a front tire go flat at speed and the tire stayed on rim it was on my wire wheels nail hit the tube and instant flat. I have since went to tubless for that very reason.
