Im looking to replace my stock 06 FXDI tank w/ a street bob tank. I saw one at the dealer and didn't realize it had the tank mounted speedo. I would like to clean up the look on my new bike if possible. The frames are all the same so I would guess teh mounting hardware is too. Not sure about cable length for speedo and ease of install.

No, the tanks are differant. Those that have the speedo on the tank (WG, SB, and LR) have a depression under the dash to make everything fit. Also, the D/DC tanks have a center fill point, and the others have a fill on the right, level gauge on the left.


There are three differant tank styles: DL/DB, DWG/D35, D/DC. I think the overall shape of the tanks is differant between models, too.

 

It probably can be done but it's going to be expensive, unless you can find someone with an entire assembly already off the bike. Too many parts, labor, new paint on the tank, it isn't going to be cheap.
