Default Need Wrench Size

I’m installing a lowering kit and chrome fork sliders on my 05 Ultra today. I have some questions.

What is the wrench size for the fork cap bolt?
Is there any tools I need or can substitute for the ones in the service manual?
Any tricks you know that can help me? [/ol]

I don't recall the size of the cap bolt, but I believe I just used the largest Crescent wrench I had.
I believe one of your fork legs has a cartridge. I have no idea how you can escape having the spring compressing tool for that side, but I am open to anyone correcting me.
The toughest thing that will come up for you that I remember will be compressing the spring into the leg enough to get the fork cap back on. (non-cartridge side leg) I have a pic of what I used to get that done.(my RK has the same internals in both legs)

I just changed my 04 forks for some 06 forks and If I recall correctly i used a 36mm but it was slightly loose so if can convert to inches go one size smaller or 35mm. I used my wrench that I use to loosen my rear axle nut with. Not a lot of room to work with the fairing in the way. I did not have any problem getting them back in, the spring was a non issueon eitherside.

1 3/8" wrench

to compress the spring I use one of those real long sqeeze clamps for wood I bought at Lowes, just get the longest one they have... it's basically the same thing spentmoore sells just cheaper

If they are SHOWA then they would be metric. I had the same problem finding the right socket...even called the dealer and they insisted they were not metric , but they were. Got my socket from a place that made hydraulic fittings 'cause the lacal hardware stores did not sell the 34mm ones. I butchered the firstbolt 'cause the dealer insisted it was not metric. Thats when I really lost faith in my local dealer.
