Default Wheel width & Tire Size

Can someone point me to a website that lists what size tires fit what width wheels. There are so many variations these days it's hard to keep up.

What's the fatest tire you can fit on a 3.5" wide wheel before needing to go to a 5" wide wheel.

Thanks Dino

Assuming your talking about a 16"x3.5" tire, the widest you can go with most mfg is a 160/80-16(ie: 160mm wide). And this is assuming a stock 16" diameter rim. Avon,Metzeler and a few other tire mfg's make a 160mm tire that will fit that sized rim.

Yes it's 16", actually I'm refering to the front wheel not that it makes a difference. If I can get a 160 on the rim I have that might give me the look I'm after without having to buy another rim.

Thanks

As I said, you can fit a 160 wide on a 16x3.5 with no issues, front or rear. I do a 130mm on both my rides up front on an 18" rim. 160 would be "unique" looking to say the least. Post pics when your idea comes to fruition.

Will do...........

I'm sure I'll be asking many more questions as this project unfolds. If you haven't figured it out out already I'm an Exile fan but I'm not looking to imitate what they do but rather incorperate that style with some of my own ideas.

I'm also going to have the motor rebuilt and I'd like to beef her up a bit. Currently the bike runs very fast for an 80" EVO, all she's had done to her is; Wisco Forged Steel Pistons, Andrews Mid Range cam, Jims Anti Pump up lifters, velva touch push rods and and S&S Super E carb. That's all that's been done to it since she was new.

Trust me on this, I'm not the type who beefs up his motor for Dino specs. I run hard and fast all the time, I've raced people who claim to have tons of money and horsepower in their bike and they still can't walk away from mine. But let me say this, I'm not sure if it's the bike or the people I'm racing, Times ahve changed over the years and the heart isn't there anymore so It's hard to tell if the bikes fast or the opponents can’t ride.

But the point is I'd like any advise on gaining the most power out of my 87 beit big bore, stroke, or just a good set of heads, carb and cam. This bike is part of the family so I'd rather massage it than buy a replacement.

Dino, I've got an '87 Sloptail that seems to run harder than most for a stock motor. Does have an SE ignition module, but that's all. I'm interested in what you end up doing, so keep the joint posted.

Being a tad different than most, I'm thinking about keeping mine at 80 inches. For my type of riding, I think I'll look at a cam that increase torque in the low-midrange, adjustable pushrods, roller rockers, have the heads ported/polished/cc'd, single fire ignition (ain't sure if the SE module is, but I'll check it out when I can get to it), and probaly get a tweaked CV carb to replace the butterfly Keihin. Might not sound like much, but I think if I mix 'n' match the parts carefully, I might end up with something pretty surprising.

Which means I'm looking for some suggestions, too!
