Default '06 FXDWG - Front End Clunk

I have a 2006 FXDWG with 18,000 miles. Has just recently begun making a loud metallic clunking noise on any bump in road.At first, thought it was just in forks. Have to remove the lousy things to change fork oil - ARGH ! But Sunday I noticed it also makes this weird metlallic rattleon low speed trailing throttle, like slowing down in a parking lot.. Everything seems tight, including fork bolts, neck bearing, fender, caliper, etc. Engine mounts look good also. Any ideas, guys ? ? ? ? ?

Check your front tank mount.....

Then check the amount of lube and fall-away/pre-load on the steering stem.....

And FWIW, Welcome Aboard..... Please take a moment to post an intro in the New Members Section.....

To get to the neck bearing nut, you have to remove the top triple tree. The nut you see under the round chrome cover simply attaches the top triple tree.

That buzzing noise could be coming from almost anywhere. spend some time with the bike on a lift to check everything you can get your fingers on. Especially any add on chrome bits.

Recently did my steering head and on occaision had some clunking. Turned out to be the gas cap.
