Default Anybody have a 150mm rear on a pre 2000 bagger?

Looks like I'll be putting a new rear tire on the bike this winter and I saw that the newer bikes are able to accomodate a wider rear tire. I saw that people were able to put the 150mm rears on 2000-2003 bike by modifying the belt gaurd and using a pulley spacer. I haven't read about any pre 2000 bikes that have done this. I found a company that sells the spacers for 1999 and older bikes here:

I just wanted to see if anyone had done this on an older bagger and if there were any suggestions on spacer thickness. I was thinking about 1/4", but wasn't sure. I believe that pre 2000 baggers run the 1 1/2" belts as opposed to the 1 1/8" after 2000 and I wasn't sure if this would make a big difference or not. Thanks-
Rick
