Rear end humming

Rear end humming
I had the dealer install a new rear sprocket and a come belt guard over the winter I have noticed a humming noise coming from the rear end. I took it back to the dealer and they stated the belt was to tight after they adjusted the belt tension the humming was gone for the most part. It appears it has come back but it is intermittent it sounds as if the belt guard is vibrating I have isolated the belt guard and I can see no sign of the belt rubbing. I am at a loss.

RE: Rear end humming
i think your dealer was on the right track...i had a similar sound that they couldnt hear/figure out. they adjusted the belt just as the book says and no good...i readjusted it and nothing...finally i said i was going to find it so i started to loosen the belt some more....it went away...also, the alaignment on the rear end has to be right on the nuts. i also found that the sound tended to appear when warm..i tested my belt and found that it tightend significantly when hot (the dealer said it didnt)...therefore, my belt is adjsuted on the loose side when cold and when i check it after riding its about right. i set mine at 5/8 to 3/4 when off the ground and when its warm it reads a right around 5/8....as i said before make sure your alignment is right on...that will cause problems too..
