Default Front Brake too HARD

I have an 87 Sportster 883. In my opinion, the front brake works fine. My wife is riding it and wants it to engage further back. In agreement, it does engage very quickly (i.e. it is fully locked up and won't go past the first 25% of travel).

Is there anyway to adjust this? Can it be an indication of a bigger problem?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Keith

25% of travel to reach full braking sounds about normal.

Does your wife have small hands? Harley makes a grip that is slightly smaller in diameter than the stock grip- it will allow her to get more of her fingers on the brake lever, making it feel closer.

Check the catalogs for "Dog Leg" levers. The start out about 1/2" closer to the grip. Made for small hands.
