Default Fork Noise

I had the lower forks chromed a few weeks ago and I notice whencompessed you hear a small squeaking noise and a slight rubing noise. The person that did the work said they should quiet down as they break in. Any suggestions???

Yeah- ask the guy just what exactly is supposed to be"breaking in"??

Did you change anything besides the finish of the forks- springs, oil level or type, etc?

That would be a good question and would like to hear his response!
There is nothing to "break in".
The noise could be the springs or spacers rubbing againest the tubes, dampner rods are loose orchrome got inside the fork legs.
Also check to see if the fork covers are rubbing if the bike has them.

I think it is chrome inside the fork leg, I am hoping that will break in instead of it breaking in something else. I will be riding alot in the next couple of weeks in Sturgis, we will see.

I'm not so sure it's good idea to chrome the innards on fork legs.

Don't worry about the innards, chrome won't throw down into the tubes (unless you put auxilary anodes in there, which would be stupid), copper maybe the first couple of inches and a little less with the nickel. In any case, you are talking about microns of thickness that wouldn't effect the fork fittment. Maybe he put the fork seals in upside down or didn't get the snap ring installed properly. It shouldn't be making noises just because the lowers were changed out.
