badlander seat that H-D offers anyone have any experience with it?
Hows the comfort level?
it seems really firm...Almost rock hard...
Is that a good thing or bad for long rides? Rock Firm?
the badlander seat is on the 15th anniversary fatboy at the dealer...
Will it eventually soften up and shape to my butt and get comfortable to endure?
Or will it always be rock hard?
Thanks

HEY TEX, I HAVE A BADLANDER SEAT ON MY RK. ITS JUST LIKE THE GUY AT THE PARTS COUNTER AT MY LOCAL HD DEALER TOLD ME. IF IT LOOKS GOOD, IT PROBABLY RIDES LIKE ****. AND IF IT LOOKS LIKE ****, IT PROBABLY RIDES GOOD. THE BADLANDER SEAT IS A FAIRLY HARD RIDE. IF I PLAN LONG TRIPS I PUT THE FACTORY PILLOW TYPE SEAT ON, BUT FOR AROUND TOWN BIKE NIGHTS AND SHORT DISTANCE CRUISING THE BADLANDER SEAT IS A GREAT LOOKING SADDLE. AS FOR IT BREAKING IN, IM NOT SURE, MY BET IS NO, THERE JUST ISNT MUCH PADDING THERE STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX.

I have a tribal pattern on my Roadking, which is like the badlander with the exception that it is a little wider at the rear. The seat is firm, and in the way of plush comfort there really isnt any. I do prefer this low profile seat over the plush stock seat. To me its more comfortable, even though its firm.

I still have my stock "pillow top" on my Ultra and am thinking of changing it. On my Guzzi I have a seat I bought of Ebay for 20 bucks that appears to have come from JC Whitney. Was a little trouble to rig the mounting lock with Hardware store bits but it is the best long distance seat I've ever owned. I understand a company named "Hang Ten" makes these seats, but am not sure of that. In any event you might take a look at the online catalog and see if it appeals to you.

I have a badlander on my Roadglide (stock seat in picture below). Looks great, rides like hell and my wife won't even get on it. I keep it on when I'm riding by myself because it lookds good and is fairly low. It only takes about 30 seconds to put the stock seat back on when the wife wants a ride.
If your looking for something comfortable for long rides choose something else. If you want to look cool on short rides then get the badlander and save your stock seat for longer rides.
Have fun deciding
