Default Vented Fork Cap Bolts???

Rebuilding the front end on my 86 Heritage Softail. Gathering items for the job and notice that these bolts are a little below par for me on shininess, and decide to look at replacing them with some new chrome one. Came across this lisitng:

https://www.lowbrowcustoms.com/9911-1-fork-tube-bolt-glide-oem-45754-60-harley-60-77.html

Showing these bolts, but vented. Obviously not for my year bike, but was wondering why they would need to be vented, on those year bikes. Anyone know?

Some older dressers had a cap with hoses, went to a Schroeder valve to add air for ride quality, same basic effect as air shocks.
