Default Apes on 2018 Sport Glide

Anyone put apes on their 2017-2018 Sport Glide yet? I found some 14” ones I want and the dealer quoted almost 2500 to install... I think I am pretty handy and try to tackle everything mechanically on my own. So I’m looking for a how to post

I suggest you look for a brand of bars which supports their product with good instructions, supplies all you will need (wire extensions etc), possibly even has a video. Be aware that novices post up around HDF often, with wiring problems down to poor workmanship when swapping bars, especially when doing internal wiring. Take a look at the Harley's website for their aftermarket bars, as they come with good instructions, which you can read on-line, even print off. They will provide you with a starting point, at least.

Grbrown - thank you. I’ll search for “wiring kits” for apes.

Some bar brands may even include longer clutch cable and brake lines, if the bars need it. Hopefully someone more expert will call by soon!

Damn! I feel like a dumbass — searching “kit” brings up so many options... Now I see why dealer quoted so high; 16” apes with full kit runs a grand...
I’m shopping.

These 16” and others seem to exclude ABS brake system stuff...

Anyone done this yet to their 2017/2018 Softail with abs brakes?

Cool

Installing internal wiring is very time consuming, unless you can find bars pre-wired, if such things exist.

You may find more help in the Softail section, where there will be more members to offer help and advice.

these have abs —
appreciate the difficulty of the job, just not 2000+ worth, in my opinion. We’ll see!
