Default chrome rear pulley problem

I put a new chrome pulley 1 1/8" wide on my 2001 heritage, however the belt rubs against the inner mud gaurd on the fender. Is there a fix for this. I had another pulley that is 1 1/2" wide and measured the depth of the inset and there is about 3/16" differernce bewteen the two.I tried the bigger pulley and the clearance was perfect. Will it hurt to run this larger pulley or can I purchase a spacer to move the correct pulley out farther?

The place I purchased the pulley from and the box it came in, states that it is the correct one for my bike.

Is the pulley flat on both sides if so I had to use a 1/2in. spacer on my 2003 Fatboy pulley. 1 1/8 pulley

no, both are inset. the wider pulley has a deeper inset. To be exact the differance is .204.
