Default Installing longer fork tubes

I bought an 72XLand one of the slidershas a ding. beingI have to replace it, I want to update the wheels to disk brakes. I found a set of forks off a newer XL that need longer tubes, I need help with info. Can i change tubes and seals or is there some internal components that need changing when going to longer tubes? Maybe there is some other avenue tomyproblem, any suggestions ?
