Default Dunlop D401 & K591 air pressure?

My FXDCI came with Dunlop D401F and K591 tires front/rear respectively. My dealer had them inflated to the max pressure of 41lbs and 42lbs but I backed 'em both off to 38lbs for the time being to take some of the harshness off the ride. What is the actual sweet spot for these tires? (I ride solo at 185lbs.)

Whay say ye?

The 41 lbs is MAX pressure ,not running pressure. The 16 inch rears use 36-38 lbs and the 19 & 21 inch fronts run 30 lbs.

Thanks! That's pretty much what I thought - and in fact, I think that's originally what they were at when I took it in Monday to have the wheels balanced. The first thing the tech did was try to tell me that the reason the front end was shimmying was because "your front tire is about 10lbs underinflated" and he then proceeded to pump it back up to 41lbs. Go figure.

On a side note... Unless I'm missing something, the '06 owners manual does not have tire pressure information.

Tyre Pressure data for 06 Dynas is at the front of the manual. In the spec section. One of the tables.

My tires are a D401F 100/90-19 in the front and a D401 160/70B-17 in the rear on an '08 Street Bob. Tires are inflated to 30 in front and 36 in rear. The front should be ok, but is the rear ok?

Thanks for your help.

Check your owners manual, as mentioned above. If you don't have one you may find you can download one on the H-D website - go to the Owners tab.

gr, that is the pressure suggested in the owner's manual both front and rear. But my rear tire is not a K591. Does that make a difference?

I think you will find that all Dunlop tyres for your Harley use the same pressures as in your manual. In fact many other brands do as well. The only alternative source of info is to check the Dunlop website. The K591 comes up as one of their tyres they recommend for Harleys. Looks as if they recommend 40psi for the rear, but check for yourself.
