Default Aftermarket risers will not fit my stock Harley half inch mounting bolts

I have a 2016 Harley Davidson Dyna wide glide that was completely stock. I just got some new pipes and put them on myself no problem. Went and got my bike tuned and it runs great. Now I have bought some 16 inch ape hanger handlebars with risers and the problem is that the risers are made to accept a three eights inch mounting bolt. My stock Harley mounting bolts of course Are half inch thread. My question is this, can I drill out the holes on the risers I have to except the half inch bolt? My brother-in-law is a machinist and said he could do it no problem.

Hi from the UK anf welcome to HDF. Your brother-in-law is better placed than us to decide if drilling and tapping your new risers to a larger size is the right thing to do. If he reckons there is still plenty of metal I would go with his offer. Next time you buy stuff make sure what you buy is right for the job! An alternative is to see if you can swap them with the shop you got them from.
