I Changed my rear brake pads on my 2000 RK Classic by removing the two retainer bolts and also loosening the calipers to get the pads in. When I loosened the inside caliber I noticed some brake fluid leaking out (?), so I put the new pads on and buttoned everything back up, now I noticed my rear brake pedal goes all the way to the floor board with no pressure. I've tried pumping it abunch of time with no luck. There are no more leaks after putting everything back together. Why did this happen? I did not remove the master cyclinder cover or remove the brake lines at all?
Thanks in advance!
You loosened some bolts you shouldn't have. Guess you've figured that out by now. First of all make sure there isn't any fluid on your new pads or rotor.
Make sure your master cylinder is full and start bleeding the line. You've got air in it.
I think nvsteve has the problem pegged. If the bolts you loosened were the bridge bolts as well as the pad pin bolts then air could have entered the system. Bleeding the rear brake system should fix the problem.
