How do I get to the snap ring in these 41mm forks sliders....inbetween is pretty deep still..i can even see it...heeeelp

 

The snap ring above the fork seal?

If so, It shouldn't be all that far down. Not enough that you can't see it.

 

Well it is.. there is a CAP on top of them... a CAP with a hole in it on the side of it..

You cant see that far down past the cap to get to the C ring, ive tried a lot (LOL)

Cant figure out how to remove the cap yet..

 

Is that a set screw?

Do you have the service manual or parts breakdown manual?

If I get a chance I'll swing through the dealer and lookat their's

 

no its just a hole.. clean to the slider...(not a setscrew at all)

ah I said f' it ... put some soft rubber grips in my vice, and a shop towel, clamped the fork lowers and took a mallet and a pretty good sized punch and tapped it a bit on the hole.. it budged
so it lifted a bit off the lower, so I took a big flathead screwdriver and with just a little pressure twisted it to pry it up more and more.. little by little and it came off.

the snap ring was easy to get off and then i popped the lowers off...cleaned it up a bit and put it sorta together...

my 2inch PVC pipe even tho I cut it wasn't allowing me to seat the seal so..and its kinda late ill finish up tomorrow.
yeah I have it gaped and used one of them screw clamps to shrink it but I am not doing it right I guess to get seal down.. or i am taking it to easy on it :P

two pics are the sliders and one pic is my CUSTOM hehe waterproof (LOL) quick disconnect for my headlamp assembly that I put together so if I needed too instead of unplugging the thing under the tank and running though, I just unplug it there besides I hooked my garage door connections there as well..so was spliced there anyhoo..just fixed it up

well i put the forks back together, just have to pop em on the bike... had to mow the grass and pick up dog poo... heh im on it!! right now.. putting back together the bike heh

 

here is a picture today, got the sliders on.. but had to quit early, will be done tomorrow
