Default Installing Dual Brembos on an older Dyna...

I'm modifying my 2005 Dyna to dual front brakes - I've found the right side lower, brake lines, seals and a larger master cylinder - I've also located a pair of brand new Brembo calipers that I want to install. These babies are for a 2015 Night-Rod and are brand new(pictured below). Will they mount to my forks?

Yes...perfect upgrade for the 2000-2005 Dynas. Not so perfect for 06-later

You'll also want 11.8" (300mm) rotors...yours are 11.5"

So, you already already got your Correct Right Slider for the 1" axle?

So you are saying the larger rotors will bolt right on??? I'm going to start looking for some floaters then :-)

I'm paying $65.00 USD for the calipers above - the Right Slider and reflector are on order from the dealer here in Canada - price is $180.40 USD before tax.

When those brembos were introduced on 2006 Vrod / 2008 Touring, they were designed to use the 11.8" (300mm) rotors...bolt right on. You Do NOT want to use 11.5"

Do you know the part# you ordered for the Right Slider?...It's somewhat unique

That's a good deal on those Cals

Yeah, I was afraid of that. That's really not for your FXD. That 46079-04 is for the FXDX adjustable forks.

You have to be able to "read between the lines" to get the correct one for a 2004-05 Dyna because they really didn't make a Dual disc model other than the FXDX (in the U.S. anyway, dunno about other countries).

Can you cancel or return your order? I can get you on the right path if needed

Unfortunately, no returns on parts here in Canada - so I need more input on this issue please...

Yes, no dual disk option for the 2005 Dyna :-/ hence my mod - from my understanding though, the only different is the plug bolt (45726-96) on the bottom of the 2004 FXDX lower which allows adjustment, however the 2005 slider tube assembly, length and diameter are exactly the same including the anchor screw (45399-96) at the bottom of the assembly.

Where do you see the screw part# being the same?

Anyways, if i had an adjustable slider to look at now, I could tell you any possible issues. I have seen the interior of an adjustable only very casually, but i think i remember the height where the Oil Lock would sit as being at a different height (slightly). I know people have used them conventionally, but as a pair, and I don't know any particulars...haven't needed to.

when are you supposed to receive the slider?

So your saying that I might end up with a crooked front alignment :-[ that would blow, but if you're right, I would need the right side too which I can deal with :-)

Same anchor screw, different part #- HD has never bothered to standardize their part #'s hence the loads of confusion when intermingling parts between years and models.

I will have that slider late next week - and the calipers too. I'll monitor and update this thread accordingly as I do the conversion.

I received the new Right Side Lower (46079-04) from my Dealer today, it's the exact same spec other than the 'Plug Bolt' at the bottom which I've ordered accordingly.

In consideration of the fork fluid; both forks were rebuilt only 24 months ago, do I still need to consider renewing the fluid in the left fork?
