Default ABS Rear Brake problem

I have a 2013 Ultra Classic CVO. When using the rear brake to come to a normal stop it works fine. When I press hard on the rear brake, I feel a "thunk" as though it is getting hung up on something and then breaking loose. The brakes still function but I don't get the pulsating feeling that I used to get when coming to a hard stop. Any ideas?

Sounds like it is operating as HD has engineered it, badly!!!! The abs system on our hd's sucks something fierce, get used to it.

Well I can't be certain but if you press on the rear brake hard enough to activate the abs it will make a clunk type feeling/noise and then the rear brake dumps all pressure releasing the rear brake, it feels like the rear brake completely fails for a second or 2 , then it goes back to working but you are now 2 seconds past where you wanted the rear brakes to work. Sound familiar?

Sounds about right. I have had the bike for a couple of years and really haven't engaged the ABS until recently. I guess I expected to perform like my trucks ABS. What about the front brake? I haven't engaged the front ABS (doesn't seem too safe). Does it do the same thing? By the way, thanks for the info!

The front works exactly the same however with the weight transfer the likely hood of encountering front tire slip during braking under normal circumstances is rare. But it can happen while braking and encountering light dirt or sand blown across road, light moisture on lane striping, delineators, etc, things that you would normally have a hardly any tire slip that would give you pause for concern but the computer senses tire slip and will dump pressure to the front brakes. It can be a bit disconcerting when this happens. Good thing is , like I said , the front brakes activating the abs under non-emergency braking is pretty rare. The back brakes activate the abs for me on every ride, I have gotten somewhat accustomed to it, but it is still not optimum, LOL.
