Default Front fork oil change

So I've done some searching and can't find an answer. I installed lowering springs in my 2009 Streetglide and when adding new fork oil noticed that the oil went in easy into the right fork with no spillage. The left fork was a different story. I could only add less than 1/2 oz at a time and sometimes will still back up and overflow. That was a few months ago.

This weekend I helped a friend install chrome lowers on a 2003 Electraglide and same thing but the left was worse than on my Streetglide. None would go in. We pulled the fork and noticed that the right side has a nice big opening but the left has some sort of engineered piece like a plug with a small hole about a 1/2 inch from the top.

We filled it through the drain plug by laying the fork tube on it's side with the bottom of the fork slightly higher than the top. This was no easy feat as the drain hole is very small as well.

So my question is: Is there an easy way or trick to filling the left side fork?

Deleted due to stupidity. the sticky is for air forks not regular spring forks.

Cool

The air forks also have springs in them. You can check what is inside your forks by looking on line here. However it sounds as if you are doing this work without a factory service manual?! I don't have a bike of those years, but the book is well worth getting if you don't have one! Some models have a different damper system, which may explain what you found.

Found out that 2002 - 2005 have cartridge forks on the left side. After 2005 Harley went to similar forks on left and right because it was cheaper to produce and there was no significant improvement in the ride.
