just be careful to not drop the little brass fitting on the throttle side that holds your cables in place....I seem to drop everything at least once....

I just installed heated grips on my sportster.
After a ride this weekend, I'm thinking about doing the same thing.

I just went through this, I made post in this forum a little further down...

On my EG, I needed to remove the switch housing, this allowed me to get the grips underneath the housing and clamp it over the end of the grips. Moving the house will keep you from needing to saw off the end of your handlebar...if I understand the problem from above.

When you get to the throttle cable, you will need to loosen it by turning the adjustment nut further down the cable. When it's loose enough, you will be able to put it in place without breaking the plastic tit on the handgrip, and without fraying the cable. Once you get it all put back together, roll the throttle off and on (bike off) adjusting that nut until the throttle snaps back into place.

Not a tough job, just apply the standard rule, and allow 2 1/2 times as much time as you think you're going to need.

Justonemore, share with us your frustration with the wiring for heated grips.I plan to install heated grips on my 2003 heritage softail. I feel comfortable with the grip part but I am nervous about electrical. any help will be greatly appreciated. Need comments from other people about virtues (or none) of heated grips an cool weather...thanks

I had a previous bike with heated grips and loved them. They were on the bike when I bought it so I dont know about installation. Can't seem to get a response on this forum about heated grips.
