Default Shifter that won't scuff?

At the end of the month I'm hoping to get new pegs, etc. at bike week. For work I have to wear khakis and the such, and I have 3 pair of boots I wear. My shift is scuffing the crap out of them, and staining my brown boots black. I need a shifter that won't do this, cause I'm not about to have big black spots on all my boots and have to replace them regularly cause I'm wearing the toe out. Has anyone had any good experiences w/ shifters that have no rubber on them, or have a harder rubber that doesn't scuff and leave black stains? I can handle some scuffs if I have to, but I can't handle the black stains.[:@]

Thanks!

Well I'd like something that actually looks good. And if I'm whining at all its that I gotta "look decent" at work.

How about going to a toe and heel shifter setup? That way 0 contact with top of your shoes/boots.

Thats a good idea fxdxsteve. I have a pair of black boots that are nice but the shifter boot is getting chewed up ( whaaa[sm=boohoo.gif] ). I have some heat shrink in my toolbox so I will try your suggestion.

Cntryfun,
I was thinking maybe some of those foam rubber deals that you put on the end of pens or pencils might work but dont know if they would stretch over a shifter. Just a thought.

Some sportbike shops also sell a rubber toe cap that fits over the front of your boot for the very reason you asking for.

They haven't said anything about my boots yet, but I've been mainly wearing my black ones because of this. I will never know why people think engineers should "dress nice" cause I know for a fact I work better in jeans than I do in khakis. Those dang things have to be adjusted every hour.

Thanks for the ideas guys., I've been looking at new pegs for a while now and just haven't seen anything I really like. Harley has a decent one, and I'm going through the Custom Chrome catalog now while I wait on my computer. In the mean time I might have to see what I can come up w/, and I am considering the heel/toe shifters as well.
