Default Remove rear brake caliper

Greetings. I have a 99 Night Train that I am thoroughly wrenching on over the winter (too many projects to write out). (and yes, I have the HD service manual and have been working on scooters for 40-plus years). I am trying to remove the rear caliper - pins are out and I can get the caliper to wiggle about a bit but it will not slide off of the pads. I have done my best to try to get the piston compressed but it feels like something is hanging up on the pads - not sure if it is the piston or the inner horse shoe. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Got it off - 10 minutes of continuous prying and rocking. The old pads on the bike have two raised "dowel pins" (~ 3/16" diameter / ~ 1/16" proud) on each of the backing plates that were hanging up the piston / back horse shoe (new pads are smooth-sided).
