This is true, servers and bandwidth, it's the dollars that get you speed. The other thing that slows down the page load is that there is a ton of background popups and advertisements, many having motion or scrolling messages. But it's how they pay the bills since it's a free forum.

The browser you use might be the reason to, Internet Explorer seems slow on any site compared to what I use which is Google Chrome.
To add to my other post.

I just realized, it also might have to do with what you have your settings on for the amount of postings for a page of a thread. I have mine set on 40 posts per page of a thread and it still runs fairly normal unless it's a lot of pics on the page. Maybe you have it set on too many for what you're using. The default # is 10; but you can set it on 20, 30 or 40 also.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try down loading Firefox or the Goggle Chrome and see what happens.

Large graphics are allowed in peoples sigs.....which bogs down end users.
Large advertising pics....you can squelch that and speed things up by using Firefox with adblockplus. You'd be amazed now nice 'n clean the forum looks through adblocked eyes. I frequent a lot of forums each day (same ones)...and this one runs just a hair slower than other VBulletin powered forums.

I've noticed it has slowed down a lot. Irritating but it's free.

Go Mozilla.
Move to someplace that doesn't only have dial up.
Stop looking at **** while on the forum.
Stop looking at **** they dirty up your computer and slow it down.
Drink a beer in between.

Seriously High Speed connection here allows me to open 9 or 10 windows at once and select anyone of them to start reading.

It does matter the machine your driving, I mean connecting with.
