Question on selling my motor
Hi guys. Ive never sold a full motor before off any of my bikes. So Im not sure what the procedure is. I maybe buying the S&S 124 for my dyna. I ordered a S&Scrank case for a buddy of mine last year and it came with a MSO. Now what happens if I sell my Dyna 107 (lots of upgrades and low miles.) If im not mistaken the motors have vins #s just like the frame. So what kind of paperwork would i give the buyer in case he got jammed because the numbers didnt match. Same goes for me. If I buy the S&S motor do I need to carry around the MSO all the time? Or can I go to DMV after this Covid thing ends and show them paperwork which they will then add that MSO number to my bike on file? Or did i just make each and everyone of fall asleep lol

Been there, done that, a few times. While your state may vary, here in MA. A bill of sale with the engine serial number is all that is needed. The bill of sale should be retained by the purchaser forever and transfered to the next owner should he ever sell the bike. These days title stays with the frame. There was a short period of time back in the early 90's that title stayed with the engine. That was a stupid time. I actually got caught up in that. Ending up getting a "State VIN" assigned to one of my bikes. Had to show proof of purchase for all major components to get it registered and titled.
