D&D fatcat? How loud? Good performance?

A good boost in power and with the performance baffle its very loud. Sounds like a stock car. I pulled mine off and replaced it with a Fullsac X pipe. With CVO cans with Fullsac 2" baffles. Has almost the same power but is much quieter. The D&D is a great looking and performing pipe just to loud for my old ears.

I have the D&D Low Cat, which is the same as the Fat Cat except titled slightly upward at the rear, for use on lowered or low hanging bikes. It is on my 2014 Breakout with 103 engine that has a Stage 4 Race kit installed.
I find the sound level of the D&D Low Cat to be relatively more quiet than I would have expected. In fact, at steady 60 mph cruising, you FEEL the engine more than you hear it. But as soon as you crack the throttle beyond cruising, the sound is satisfying in both volume and character.
My Stage 4 kit with its HD 259E cam gives the engine quite a lope at idle, but it is definitely not loud.

Dyna,
I have had several Fat Cats. First let me say there performance, fit and finish in MY opinon is second to none. As far as loud. That's subjective but I have had all 3 baffles that they offer. The Perforated/Big Bore (Loudest) the Perforated Wrapped (Next Loudest) and the Louvered Wrapped (Quietest) The quietest is certainly not quiet but not as loud as the Perforated/BB. Personally I don't think any of them are crazy loud. Again subjective. What really changes is the tone from the 3.
You shoukld also match the muffler to your setup or future setup. Is it stock, are you going to a bigger motor later etc?? If stock or slightly upgraded then you will be fine with the Louvered. It makes good power and sounds great. If you have a bigger motor then the Perforated Wrapped at a minimum.I have yet to hear a YouTube video that really (accurately) reflects the true sound of the baffles but better then noting I guess.
Either way there performance results speak for themselves and be sure to get a good tune and match it to a good intake.

I had a Thunderheader on a 2000 Fat Boy with a built 95" engine and now have the D&D Boss Cat with performance baffle on a 2010 SG. No comparison in sound between the two.... As others have stated fit and finish for D&D. Sound, I liked the Thunderheader better with deeper rumble but, even from a performance and tuning stand point the D&D wins. Thunderheader has a history of a dip in performance and tuning even with a well experienced tuner and modifying the baffles.
