red exhaust wrap
Hey guys!
looking to wrap my black LAFs which have really started to loose their dark color from the pipes getting really hot.
yes, red (dark not bright) is the color that i want to go with, but the problem is not finding many quality wraps. i'm only finding hp wrap (gets bad reviews about losing it's dark color and turning close to pink from the heat) and the couple others (t1, jegs, ect) no reviews.
anyone been wrapping their pipes red??
i found a thread on another forum about dying his red wrap darker red to keep it from fading as bad. it was a short thread with no updates. anyone try to dye the wrap?
i will be doing this project in the next 2-3 weeks. if i can't get any help or advice my plan will be to...
any thoughts/ideas?? pics of your wrap jobs would be helpful.
thanks!!

- soak the wrap in slightly heavy concentration of fabric dye
- let wrap dry
- rinse out extra dye
- repeat until desired color achieved
- dry wrap and coil for project
- wrap pipes
- use sealant
- touch up wrap occasionally with heat resistant paint
any thoughts/ideas?? pics of your wrap jobs would be helpful.
thanks!!

Use high temp spray paint to get the color back to where you want it roughly once a year...Simply take the pipes off, tape the exposed areas and spray the wrap the color you want. We have done a lot of bikes using black header paint to get them back to black simply from an aesthetics standpoint. I know this sounds like a response from a 17 year old who wants to plastidip his '02 Honda Civic, but it is by far the easiest way to get rid of the fade. The dye job may work but it too will fade fast, I would just paint straight out of the box and keep up with it...
