Default Need advise on Night Rider Fuel enricher

Hello Brothers,

I have a Heritage Softail 2013 (103) and I removed the baffles and catlyictic converter from the stock exhausts, installed SE Stage 1, installed NightRider fuel enricher (XiED) and also installed Thunder Torque inserts W158 (sold by DK Customs).

The sound of the bike is awesome, heating has reduced greatly but I can feel that the bike is dragging and I lose power/torque in the 3rd and 4th gears at 2000-2400 RPM.

Do I have to replace the Spark plugs ?

Any advise will be welcome as the local dealer has no clue and will not advise.

Problem probably lies with the XiEDS. They increase the fuel across the entire range. Works OK in some cases, but can't compensate for variable fuel requirements under all conditions.

You'd be better off with a real tuner that allows you to map for different rpm and load requirements.

The problem is NOT the XiED's. The ECM still works and compensates for conditions with the XiED's installed.

Acceleration at 2000-2400 rpm in 3rd and 4th gears is too low of an RPM. That is lugging the bike. It is NOT meant/designed to ride/accelerate at those RPM's in those gears. Doing so with any configuration puts excessive stress on the crank.

With a free flowing air cleaner you will have more power down there, but it is Still Not a good ideas to accelerate in 3rd gear or higher at anything below 2700-2800 RPM.

Thank you for the posts. What should be the ideal RPM for 2nd, 3rd and 4th Gears ?

Also, by bike does not lug - I feel that it starts missing when I accelerate and I feel that momentarily I lose the power before I move to a higher gear.

Your advice is welcome.

In second, mild acceleration, I would not be concerned with a low RPM of 2200.

For 3rd & 4th, ideally you want to be 2500 or higher. For moderate to strong acceleration I want to be above 2800 RPM. To cruise (very little throttle...maybe 4-6%) then you're probably not doing any damage between 2100 and 2500 RPM.

The Twin Cam 96 and 103 are stroker engines and like to be at higher RPM than the TC 88.

The HD single crankpin 45 degree design, especially a stroker, will have extra stress on the connecting rods and crank under a load at low RPM.

I am not understanding what you mean here-

I feel that it starts missing when I accelerate and I feel that momentarily I lose the power before I move to a higher gear.
