Default Arlen Ness or K & N...?

Would like to know which one is best. I'm guessing they are both good and it would be up to me to decide, but I like other's opinions. Right now, I have a Stage 1 installed with the round filter that HD installed. Here's what I have found so far. The K & N has the 3 holes I can use to bolt onto my existing air cleaner back plate. If I get the Arlen Ness, I would need to change the back plate. Am I correct?

If you're just looking to replace the air filter itself, I'd get the K&N. The Ness filter will bolt up to your SE back plate, but while it looks like a K&N, it's not.
You can get either one from Zanotti's or discountcycleparts.com for about $40.

I went down to the local Autozone and ordered the K&N to replace my stage 1 filter. Ordered it in the a.m. they had it after lunch and the cost was about $35 or so. They might tell you they only have K&N filters for autos but just tell them what you want and that you are sure they have it, somebody will post up the part # b/c I can't remember right now.

As far as quality, I can't imagine there being any difference between the two.

The Big Sucker flows he best out of the bunch your speaking of. I flowed the SE kit, The K&N kit with the velocity stack inside, The big sucker Stage 1, and stage 2. The stage 2 BS flows the best by far over any of the others but requires the 8in round cover. The BS stage 1 out flowed the K&N kit also. So its all in how much you want to flow. I used the BS-2, Found a nice 8in chromeEVO cover, put a black n silver SE insert on it and it looks hot and has the big flow too. The SE kit was the worst but can be made as good as the BS 1 with an K&N element installed.

Thanks for the replies. I've decided to go with the K&N filter. I'm going to have to purchase it online as none of my auto parts stores carry it and cannot order it. Do I need to buy the filter oil or does it come with it?

I believe they already come oiled. You won't have to worry about that for awhile.
