Yes, if you port/polish the heads..........you really should get it retuned.
It will allow more air to flow thru, and in turn more fuel will be needed for the correct burn.
I think ported heads help any build, it's just a matter of spending the money or not.

For "02" type heads if yourstaying with stockvalve size .510 lift is fine. If your doing stage 2 type stuff with bigger valves then you might want to consider a cam with more lift. I have done nothing more than port n flowsome guys heads and done a retune on my dyno and have seen
a 10 hp gain in power with a simular gain in trq also. Thats a street type port job with stock sized valves and the same cam.
