Default 96 to 103

well guys here is my question.
ive got a 2009 night train with a 96ci. ive got the big radius 2/2 with a s/e heavy breather and se 204 cam. now its fun, lots better then stock but lets face it I want more. been thinking about going to a 103. if I do that im going to use the high lift rockers. also thinking about using the cnc ported se heads.

what do you guys think? is the 103 worth it? the heads?

go for a 107cid, and have your heads done by a good porter your heads can be made to flow higher cfm's for less than the cost of the se heads. bump compression to 10.8:1 and add a s&s 585 with those rockers and you will really have to hang on.

Yes boring to 107", along with a good set of heads* will really wake that up..........might be able to use those 204 cam as well.
Usually those pipes need the baffles modified when looking for more power, but they do seem to work.

If you go 103" or 107" and headwork, those cams are going to be really "out of place" - you can pick a bigger cam that "hits" in the same rpms but will do the BB and headwork justice.

107",S&S .585 cams & 1.900/1.615 headwork.cams will still hit pretty much where the 204`s do now, only WAY harder

The 204's could stay at the 107" level, even with their 34* intake closing as long as the combustion chamber was opened up to keep them hovering in that 9.5, 9.6, or so, compression ratio.
It would have a boat-load of low-mid range power, and with a good flowing cylinder head, it would/could make surprising hp as well.
As our web site states, we can/do usually work with a clients pre-existing parts to help achieve the goals.

Default Y pipe or not?

I don't know what to do on my build. I need to get it dynoes but went to fullsac dual kit, the 200 dollar kit but after researching and not wanting to spend money on a 2 into 1, Thought of putting a plug in the y pipe to make that a 2 into 1 but people say one pipe is shorter so that's not good. so what can you gurus tell me, Make my pipes 2 into 1 or just leave the y pipe alone. What will give me the most HP? I will cut the restriction out of the y pipe. I heard that's good for 2 to 4 HP and that is hard to believe but will cut it out anyway.

Might want to decide on a budget and a goal....if going 103 & headwork you might want to go forged pistons and if the heads are properly done use a modern camshaft....Kury 24 or GMR's Gen 577 there are others.....and get a better pipe that might help more than anything

Aren't you glad you asked? The responses cleared it all up for ya?

Find a porter/builder; two forum sponsors have replied to your post. Work with the porter; the guys that do this for a living. Establish a budget, know how you ride and where you want the power and let the porter/builder tell you how to achieve the goal. Do not rely on input from forum members for anything other than anecdotal data that may or may not fit your application.

The only thing I wil suggest is that you 86 the BR pipes; not a performance exhaust.
