The S&S 106" bore is 3.927", but do the head gaskets have to match perfectly? 0n the Big Boyz Calculator they use a 3.910" head gasket for 103" and 107" compression calculations.

Yes, I spoke to S&S today and they said that if I were to use a 4" instead of the 3.927" it could cause a pocket of pressure that can create a blown head gasket. The very closest you can get would be the safest route and there is an exact kit made for my setup, but that top end kit is only available straight from Cometic. Nobody carries my 3.937" bore .030" top end kit part number below.

Stock #: C9182-030
$137.79 + shipping on their site.

MLS head gaskets on average are $35-$50 & the other seals are $70-$80???? At around this price I rather play it safe and get the full kit straight from Cometic and know I have absolutely everything and not have to make runs during assembly.

Get this....... I call my local HD and speak to the parts guy! First he hasn't even heard of Cometic gaskets then asks my bike year and model. Next question was if it's a TWIN CAM ( really, an '09 single cam?????)!!!!!!!

As Kirby points out, Drag Specialties sells the Cometic MLS gasket specifically for the 3.938" bore for $65. Drag PN is 0934-1879. Are you really surprised that the dealer parts guy has never heard of Cometic??

Why are you surprised? Harley dealers are, well, Harley dealers! They mostly sell Harley parts. By all means ask around to see if anyone has what you want, but none of them will have every brand of gasket, in every size and colour, dealer or indy. That ain't the way the World is!

I bought the .030" gaskets from S&S, they came in a cometic package. Part # H0872. Scan code # 900-0216. They are described as twincam 100mm bore .030".
Hope this helps...

100mm = 3.937", so it looks just like the gaskets HD Bobber has found. That bore size is perfect for the 107 cu in BBs but the S&S is a 106 cu in BB which has a 3.927" bore - does not appear that Cometic makes a perfect match but I guess 10 thousanths off is not a big deal.

That is the part S&S sells for there 106 if you want to go from the supplied .040" to a .030". Just to be clear
