Breather gear Problem.
#12
have been thinking about the Pinion Shaft, it maybe have something to do the problem.
I have now inspected it and some questions popped up:
1. Should the Pinion Shaft be fixed in the engincase or should it have a small play horizontal ?
2. it should be a space where the arrow is in the picture ?
Kind regards
Johan

this only applys to your motor if it is a correct 1979 and not somthing else with mixed parts
Ok your problem is this - the pin on the front of the breather gear for the shim, that should be in the motor has the bigger pin -- that is for engines 1977 and newer
the small pin is the older engine breather gear 1976 and down i believe post war they made it adjustable the small pin breather gear
the difference between the two is the ratio and THEY DO NOT INTERCHANGE with each other you cant swap them out ( one for the other ) you MUST use the larger pin breather in your motor
good luck in finding the correct breather gear -- johnjzjz

then it was the wrong breather that was installed when I bought it, and now I have bought the right one.
I also noted that it is the old model of the pinion gear which is mounted (the long one) for a 79 it it should be the short one.
could this be the problem that it become a wrong match between the cam, pinion gear and the breather.
When I switched to the right brehater (big pin) it was not adapted to the old
pinion gear ?
so if I also switch to the newer model of the pinion gear ,so maybe the problem is solved ?
Kind regards
Johan
